LALABELLA RIDDIM – 1996

Throwback of the week: “Lalabella Riddim”, produced by Flames Records
This week, let’s throwback the “Lalabella Riddim”, released for the first time in 1996. It’s a Modern Roots Reggae various-artist compilation, produced by Tony Rebel for Flames Records.

In my opinion, it sounds extremely good. It doesn’t sound like any regular Roots riddim. It has an upbeat Dancehall twist, which makes it very catchy, and blends smoothly with the resonating and soulful brass section. Everton Blender delivers on the “Lalabella” a vibrant ghetto anthem titled the “Ghetto People Song”.

In 2006, a remastered version of the riddim was released on digital outlets. It truly deserves a listen and an airplay on your radio station if you play old school tracks. I love this riddim and Everton‘s cut very much. Let us know what you think of our selection. Share and/or comment.
